About the Outcasts

Puget Sound Outcast Derby (PSOD) is a MRDA-affiliated men's roller derby league founded in the Pacific Northwest. The league was started in 2007 by Chuck “Hollywood” Hendrick and Ryan “Heywood” Knueppel. The current structure consists of two teams: Outcasts (all-star MRDA charter) and Castaways (developmental program). The Outcasts exhibit the highest level of roller derby, hosting home games as well as travelling internationally to represent the league. The Castaways compete at a local level, building skills and knowledge at home and around the state.

From their start of playing mini-exhibitions during halftime at local women's bouts in 2008, to hosting the 2014 MRDA Championships, to now, PSOD has been a ubiquitous presence in the Pacific Northwest roller derby scene. Many of their past and present members have coached other local leagues, administered clinics, and volunteered in the community.

Puget Sound Outcast Derby skaters have represented many aspects of roller sports, including figure skating, hockey, speed skating, and USARS/WFTDA roller derby. Some have been rink rats, and many others have come from no skating or sports background at all. There is welcoming space for all levels of ability at PSOD.
